About Us

Carbon Label California was founded by Matthew Newman, Tim Gage, and Aaron Leventhal with financial support from Silicon Valley philanthropist Noel Perry. By bringing together academics, environmentalists, business leaders, and policy-makers, we seek to implement a Greenhouse Gas Content Label (simply known as a “Carbon Label”) for a broad range of consumer products in California.  To this end, Rep. Ira Ruskin has introduced AB 2538, "The Carbon Labeling Act of 2008," for action by the California State Legislature.
